Library

The Youth Wing Library is the place to discover children's illustrated
books from all over the world. It's collection includes old and
rare books as well as latest publications. The collection numbers
about 3,000 books in Hebrew and 4,000 in other languages.
In addition, the library also specializes in books and periodicals
on museum education, art, and archaeology. The reference library
contains 3,500 books and a substantial collection of comics.
Once every two years the library awards prizes to outstanding illustrators
for their illustrations in newly published children's books. The
library also holds temporary exhibitions of original works by leading
local and international illustrators.

The library programs serve as a source of fun, pleasure and inspiration
for children and parents, a home from home for families to sit and
read with their children as well as a resource center for students,
artists, and teachers.
The library runs a busy schedule of activities.

Recyling
Room

The recycling room is a space to create using unusual materials.
Remnants that have lost their original identity find a new life
as the imagination lets fly. Industrial left-overs from factories
from all over the country are sorted by shape, texture and color
and their different qualities become available to all.
Children discover the different qualities of the materials, celebrating
their own creativity in the process. Activities in the Recycling
Room are related to our current exhibition.

Archaeological
Tell
A 10,000 year old Tell (archaeological mound) appeared in the Youth
Wing Courtyard looking very much like the real thing. The Tell consists
of five layers and areas for excavation, representing the most important
archaeological periods of the history of the Land of Israel.
Visitors are invited to dig into history to discover artifacts for
themselves. Through their active participation in the dig, visitors
learn all about being an archaeologist and the long journey of the
object from its discovery in the dig until it reaches its place
in the exhibition in the gallery.

Summer
Camps

School holidays are the perfect time for art camps. Each year a
focal subject is chosen, around which activities and workshops are
held. The intensive and consecutive studio work brings about a unique
process of creativity. Summer camps are led by artists-teachers,
and include gallery tours around the museum.
